Robert Downey Jr.’s used gum listed on eBay for $40,000

An eBay seller says they snagged the piece of gum Robert Downey Jr. was chewing at Jon Favreau’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony, and now they’re selling it with a starting bid of $55,000 CAD, or about $40,000 USD.

And yes, it’s listed in “used” condition.

“I happened to be in the area during the event which had famous actor and producer Jon Favreau being added to the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” the seller writes in the product description.

“During the event, Robert Downey Jr. himself put his gum on the star and presumably left it there, which I was able to snag. I’m selling it in the same condition I got it in, and it can be tested for his DNA.”

The seller also notes that the wad of gum “will be shipped with tracked shipping and contained in a plastic container.”

As of the time of this writing, however, there are no bids on the gum, with two and a half days remaining in the auction.

Downey was a guest speaker at Favreau’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in February, honoring the man who directed him in the first two “Iron Man” movies. (Favreau also has an onscreen Marvel Cinematic Universe role opposite the actor. He plays Happy Hogan, the bodyguard to Downey’s Tony Stark.)
